Innovating for U.S. is a project designed to encourage and support new solutions to strengthen our constitutional democracy and bring 21st and 22nd century thinking into a renewed America.

A bold new approach is needed to strengthen America’s constitutional democracy in the new age. The continuing effort to build a civic society with strong democratic institutions in a growing multi-racial democracy requires refining current practices, developing new tactics and strategies, deepening our understanding of human behavior, and using advances in technology. Re-committing to a culture of democracy with a shared set of values and respect for the rule of law is needed if we are to reinvigorate America’s promise.

We must help change the overall operating environment from one in which Americans are pitted against one another, income inequality is crippling, corporations are given free rein, and the public sector is vilified by those whose job it is to make it work to one in which the rule of law is respected, elected leaders are held accountable for their actions, and everyday Americans have the ability to lead their lives without fear, meet their basic needs, and fully exercise their rights as individuals as guaranteed by our constitution.

Innovating for U.S. is our chance to understand, engineer, and apply new approaches and tools to re-establish a functioning and healthy democracy. This requires an understanding of and the means to affect the underlying dynamics driving weakening America’s democracy.

Innovating for U.S. mirrors in some fashion, a private sector model of basic and applied research, leading to innovations that result in new strategies, new tactics and tools that lead to actionable results that impact our future as a democracy. This is an investment that features risk tolerance, the ability to fail and iterate, and ongoing capital.
